I guess opportunity to stop and look back and reflect, which they may have neglected if the situations were different.Īn off-beat song, requested from where I’ve fallen Gets me to press on the dusty rewind button Just like when your close friends are sick, they make you sick too.Īnd you might affectionately diss your friend (the world), but you’re still close. And the world is an entity so close to them, so of course they transmitted the illness. So there is a sense that not just people are sick, but the world is sick as well. Here, he calls the world 놈, which in this context is used like he’s affectionately calling a friend “bastard.” The cold that the bastard called the “World” gave me.
OR: So very ill (hurting and being ill both use the term 아프다) But in the end, you have to respect nature and all it’s metaphorical rainy days. Such a poetic way to express the need to still do something, when faced with nature that is so much bigger than yourself. Still will not stop – this line is not clear whether the rain will not stop, or whether he will not stop trying to outrun the dark clouds. Like they unexpectedly got left behind and the time is passing on without them. It’s like they were together with the time, and expected the time to say, “Sorry, gotta run.” Like a friend would, if they had to go on without warning. It’s like they’re saying, “that Spring, it never learned to patiently wait as a kid, and it’s so clueless.” But the tone is more rueful than angry, just like the way you’d talk about a child that ends up hurting you unintentionally. Here, the spring is personified to sound like a clueless child. The lyrics are sadder, but sung in more lighthearted way. The lyrics themselves though (and I don’t know if I’m reading too much into the lyrics) actually seem sadder in Korean.
There is a friendly rueful feeling to the tone of lyrics. There is personification of things like Spring, Time and the World, talking about them like they’re friends. The Korean lyrics sound a little bit… cuter. Reading the English CC on the MV, I thought the lyrics were quite sad although hopeful. The meaning of the lyrics are fairly clear, so I’ll just ramble on about the choice of their words and their tone. Written by: Pdogg, RM, Ruuth, Chris James, Antonina Armato, Suga, j-hope
